If you participated in one of our private sales, and depending on your vesting period, you may be eligible for your first $CAPS claim. In this article, we’ll explain in detail how to claim your tokens, and start staking them.
What does it mean to claim tokens? Quite simply, it is the act of releasing and transferring part or all of your tokens to your personal wallet, so that you can use them, sell them, send them or keep them.
In regards to Ternoa’s private sales, it is important to know that the claim will be made in several releases, as indicated in our White Paper and represented by several dates, all of which are indicated under your balance within our platform. The date indicated corresponds to the day of which you will be able to “claim” your tokens.
How does the claim work ?
- If you haven’t already done so, start by downloading the Metamask extension on your web browser, then connect it to the wallet you previously gave us. Don’t forget to select the main Ethereum network! You will also need to have added the $CAPS onto your wallet: to do this, open up the extension and press “Add a token” then “custom token” and then enter the address of our token:
Once this is done, your wallet is ready to receive your $CAPS!
- Next, you will need to go to our platform ps2.ternoa.com to login and verify that your $CAPS balance is properly displayed. If one of the dates corresponding to your vesting period is reached, you can press the “Claim” button.
- Any transaction on the ETH network comes with a cost and you will have to pay a gas fee to finalize the transaction. The cost in ETH is estimated at $20/claim: make sure you have enough money in your wallet to validate your claim.
- Once the transaction is validated, your $CAPS will be credited to your wallet, and visible via Metamask after a short transaction period.
If you do not wish to make your claim, you can leave your $CAPS on our platform, but you will not be able to benefit from the staking program that we will discuss below. If gas fees are holding you back from claiming, we invite you to wait for a period of low gas costs on the ETH Network https://ethgasstation.info/.
As a reminder, PS1 participants will be able to make their first claim from July 2021 while PS2 participants can do so since June 2021.
What is staking? Staking is the voluntary “blocking” of tokens in order to receive a reward in exchange. In simpler terms, you freeze your tokens, and you get new ones as a reward: the same principle as saving money.
In order to thank you for the trust you have placed in us over the last few months, we have decided to set up a staking program reserved for private sale participants. To benefit from this program, it is very simple: just keep your $CAPS on your Metamask wallet.
Our system will automatically check the different wallets of the participants to observe the number of tokens it contains from the private sales.
Staking? Okay, but for what reward? The rewards are calculated in APR (Annual Percentage Rate), which will be between 50 and 5000% the first month. The applicable percentage will be defined at the end of each month and will be calculated according to the total number of $CAPS blocked by the different participants. Please note that the amount of staking rewards distributed will be capped at the number of chips available in the staking rewards slot.
The $CAPS staking currently concerns ONLY pre-sales 1 and 2. Only the $CAPS claimed on your MetaMask wallet will benefit from rewards. The CAPS transferred or sold will not benefit from staking.
Other staking solutions, for those who bought the token at the listing or will buy it on the exchanges, will be implemented soon during the year.
We invite you to consult the roadmap on the ternoa.com website.
What about other wallets?
As you can see, this tutorial assumes that you are using Metamask. However, staking $CAPS is also possible with an ERC-20 compatible wallet, such as Trust wallet.
If you have specified another type of wallet, you will have to connect it to our system by importing it into the Metamask extension.
To do this, we refer you to this excellent tutorial : https://medium.com/publicaio/how-import-a-wallet-to-your-metamask-account-dcaba25e558d
